HOT Mapathon, Turku 29.10.

Lounaistieto.fi / Ajankohtaista / HOT Mapathon, Turku 29.10.

Lounaistieto, University of Turku and Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) volunteers are organizing a mapathon in SparkUp, Turku on Monday 29th of October from 9:30 to 14:00.
In this mapathon, we will trace roads and human settlements from satellite images into OpenStreetMap (OSM) in order to support humanitarian response and economic development. In this event, we will contribute to a mapping project in rural Tanzania in order to support efforts to end Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Read more here.

This event gathers together both beginner and experienced mappers. The event starts with an introduction to humanitarian mapping and available tools and the basics of OSM editing. After introductions we will start to work in practice. Event is organised in English.

Register for the event by sending an email to info@lounaistieto.fi by Wednesday 24th of October.
In the registration email, please tell what organisation you are representing. There are also snacks served in the event, so please inform if you have food allergies or a diet that we should know of.
