This data set was produced as a part of master’s thesis work. Part of the thesis was exploring new ways to utilize Finnish national GIS data sets in ICZM (Integrated Coastal Zone Management) work. This particular data set includes information on the reserved marine shoreline per 1 x 1 km grid cells. The amount of shoreline reserved (total and proportional) by residential, leisure and union (residential and leisure) clusters are all included in the attributes. The essential attribute fields are as follows: Tot_km (total shoreline per grid cell), Shore_les (total shoreline reserved by leisure clusters), Shore_res (total shoreline reserved by residential clusters), Shore_rl (total shoreline reserved by both residential and leisure clusters), r_perc (percentage of shoreline reserved per grid cell, residential), l_perc (percentage of shoreline reserved per grid cell, leisure), rl_perc (percentage of shoreline reserved per grid cell, residential and leisure). Only the shoreline reserved by leisure clusters are visualised in this view. Also, shorelines shorter than 1 km are excluded from this visualisation. Data sets can be used for research and educational purposes. It is to be kept in mind, though, that the spatial extent of the data set is limited to the study areas defined in the thesis.
